IPI-ConfEx Annoucnes Featured Conference Speakers for 2005

It has been announced that Dr. Jacques Michel and Mr. Wolfgang Pilch will be featured conference speakers at the IPI-Confex 2005 conference.

Dr. Michel, most recently served as Vice President of Directorate General 1 at the European Patent Office in The Hague. He has shaped the patent information world with his leadership, innovation and professional integrity. He led both the BACON project and the EPOQUE system implementation, which literally changed the patent information world. In addition he developed and implemented the Espacenet service system to improve the dissemination of patent information. Jacques Michel has excelled as a policy maker, consummate politician and diplomat. Through his personal leadership, he has implemented a range of information products and policies that have addressed issues such as tri-lateral agreements, data conversion, quality, fulltext, and more liberal approaches to the dissemination of patent information. His presentation is sure to be informative, enlightening and enjoyable.

Mr. Wolfgang Pilch is currently a Principal Director at the EPO. He is also the former Technical Director of INPADOC and the person most closely attributed with founding and developing the INPADOC patent family database. Mr. Pilch's early recognition of the importance of global patent information and the efforts he made to collect source data from the patent offices of the world and coordinate it into a patent family system have been of great benefit to patent information users around the world for decades. The INPADOC database remains a valuable tool and has served as the foundation for new databases. Mr. Pilch also previously worked for the Austrian Patent Office where he focused on special projects. His presentation will undoubtedly be educational, entertaining and illuminating.
